"I get asked all the time, what is the best surface to train on. Astro Turf or Grass?
Now I know Astro Turf is getting better but my answers is ALWAYS Grass.
Reason Being: You Play on grass:
Thats why most J4K coaches train on grass: yes, we get covered in mud in the winter and yes its gets cold. But you have to get use to paying outdoors and the surface you play your matches on.
Sadly there are to many GK coaches training on astro turf, and as sad as it sounds, they do this because they do not like getting dirty!They are what we call fair weathered coaches. lol. They sadly run their sessions so it comfortable for them and not what is really good for the keeper!
I know some cases gk coaches have no choice but to use astro... but my honest opinion always try and train on grass!
